notts becomes even more like home

last weekend, me and a couple of friends organized the annual medic's makan-makan which basically involved all the malaysian medics (students and graduates) meeting up and eating!! this year we had it in peachy keens which has an amazing buffet spread! and it was great meeting up with the malaysians you hardly get to see during term, and meeting new ones!

and if that wasn't enough, some amazing individuals are trying to start a pasar malam (night market) in nottingham every saturday in dunkirk! last saturday was the first time they had it, and i thought it was quite nice! they only had like 2 stalls, and everything was sold out within 1hr but i managed to enjoy some roti canai (which i haven't had in a while :P) and i think this week they even had nasi lemak! great stuff!

it's always a fun event because everyone comes over to my lovely uni! it's the one day nottingham turns to kuala lumpur :)
had loads of malaysian food, had a little birthday party and a little board gaming. fun times!

dublin!

the weekend before last a couple of us went to dublin, ireland! it was a really pretty city, vibrant and just fun! we joined a little walking tour, sights worth mentioning include the dublin castle, the spire, the temple bar area, trinity college and a few other hidden gems we would have never found otherwise. had some amazing irish food (think full irish breakfast and irish full course dinner). in between, we also managed to squeeze in this lovely cake cafe (called cake cafe) which was just so cosy and had some amazing cakes and beverages :)

the diwali weekend

if these food shots made you jealous, mission succeeded :) it was the closest thing i had to a home celebration (which was as major as ever according to home) and i had a great time :) met new people, old friends, laughed a lot, behaved very indian and had amazing food!

wish everyday was diwali ;(

i really can't believe it's almost the end of week 5 and its been forever since i updated! sorry about that!

things have maybe been more hectic than usual, but its mostly me getting used to living self-catered. cooking ain't easy people, i'll tell you that! not only is it time consuming, it's also takes a lot of effort. and it definitely sucks when after all that, you don't get the results you want.

OKAY before we become a cooking blog (i'll deal with that in my own time hopefully!) so whats new? it's diwali today!! So Happy Diwali and Bandhi Chor everyone! really missing the home celebrations but i'm trying to get a different sort of experience here so hopefully will be enjoyable as well!

academically speaking, loads going on in class, doing physiology and pharmacology of kidneys, endrocrine system, alimentary system and nutrition. but the killer is yet again - anatomy! weekly dissections so far have been alright but a glance at future sessions tells me it's going to get really really difficult! I think we've pretty much covered the abdomen, which i enjoyed, and this week onwards we're moving to the bony pelvis and its contents! which reminds me, loads to read before dissection tomorrow :( and its diwali today of all days!

anyways will hopefully save the celebrations for the weekend then ;)

got some exciting stuff lined up the next few weekends but will keep them a mystery so i will not jinx it ;)

and i feel so bad saying this but i think i'm no longer a movie maniac :( it's been forever since i've watched a movie or gone to the cinema! feeling very out of touch with the current entertainment news/industry and as dramatic and jaw dropping as this is for you ppl who knew the old me, i'm going to try and treat this as a good thing! and only time will tell if this is some temporary phase of mine.

i definitely have more to say but i think i'll stop here simply because i have loads to do before tomorrow. but i want to definitely blog more frequently again, so readers who are still there, don't give up on me yet!

has been quite eventful. with all the dissections, lectures, freshers, cooking, house mates, friends and socials. great stuff! now on to week 2...
